New collective agreement for PSAC blue-collar workers employed by the federal government

OTTAWA - The vast majority of the 12,000 blue-collar workers represented by the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) voted in favour of a new collective agreement with Treasury Board.

The one year agreement provides for a 2 per cent wage increase, retroactive to August 5th, 1999, a lump sum payment varying between $625.00 and $725 depending on the grouping, and various improvements to the collective agreement for these federal public service workers represented at Treasury Board Table 2.

The agreement will expire on August 4th, 2000

Table 2 includes employees classified as General Labour and Trades (GL), General Services (GS), Firefighters (FR), Hospital Services (HS), Heating, Power and Stationary Plant Operation (HP), Lightkeepers (LI), Ships’Crews (SC), and Printing Operations (PR) Supervisory.

The collective agreement will be signed in the next few weeks.
