Still no RESPECT: PSAC forging ahead

OTTAWA - "While the strike action and pressure from the membership of the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) over the past three weeks have pushed Treasury Board to break the 2.0% to 2.5% pattern, their current wage offer still shows a true lack of respect for the work that our members do on behalf of the Canadian public," says Nycole Turmel, PSAC National President.

Treasury Board’s first and final wage offer to the PSAC membership is 3.2%, 2.8% and 2.5% over three years. This offer is less than recommended by government-appointed conciliation boards at Tables 2, 3 and 5. Other government-appointed commissions have recommended far higher increases for members of Parliament and senior executives that the government has accepted and implemented.

"The third ‘Workless Wednesday’ is going full steam ahead tomorrow. Public sector workers across the country will be out once again to continue to put pressure on the government and to demand the respect that they deserve," concludes Turmel.
