NEWS MEDIA ADVISORYOTTAWA - Will there be picket lines up at national parks, historic sites and canals this summer? Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) officials will hold a news conference on Monday, to release the results of a strike vote taken by their members employed by the Parks Canada Agency. The vote follows the breakdown of negotiations earlier this year.
PSAC was certified as the bargaining agent for Parks Canada workers in May, 2001. Negotiations for a first agreement with the Agency began the following September. Meetings in January 2002 with a Conciliation Officer failed to produce a settlement.
