Jean-François Des Lauriers is the PSAC's Regional Executive Vice-President for the North. He was re-elected to the position in 2005 at the PSAC's Triennial North Regional Convention.

In the PSAC North region, which includes the Northwest Territories, Nunavut and Yukon, Jean-François as the REVP is responsible for the following activities in the region: North Council, organizing and recertifications, education, political and social action, women's and equity programs,  Area Councils, Directly Chartered Locals and separate employers, Federations of Labour and related committees and Northern issues and services.

He shares responsibilities for the following:

  • Aboriginal Issues and National Aboriginal Peoples’ Circle
  • Local Development
  • National Conference for Aboriginal Members
  • National Conference for Racially Visible Members

He also sits on the PSAC National Board of Directors' Local Development Committee with REVP Maria Fitzpatrick.

Jean-François was first elected as REVP for the North in 1997.  From October 1996 to April 1997, he served as a Director on the Executive of the Yukon Employees Union (YEU). He also chaired the PSAC's Yukon Political Action Committee from 1994 to 1997.

Jean-François has been a PSAC member since 1978. He worked with Indian and Northern Affairs until 1990 when he transferred to Whitehorse Airport as a Firefighter. He served as President of the Union of Canadian Transport Employees, Local Y3022, from 1991 to 1996.
