Canada Post Corporation
Bargaining INFO
- August 27, 2004
An additional five (5) days of negotiations has brought very little
concrete results. Although we have continued discussion on many
non-monetary issues and although we spent the best part of the last
couple of days on the grievance procedure (didn’t get to discuss
staffing), unfortunately we have only signed off one other article
this week. Your bargaining team agreed on Wednesday to another employer
proposal that saw editorial changes to the Child Care Fund in Appendix
“H” and a more substantial change to the article that
reads as follows:
“Any document that is distributed by the UPCE/PSAC describing
the Fund shall provide a recognition that the Fund is negotiated
by the Union and financed by the Corporation.”
So, as of today, after sixteen (16) days of negotiations, Canada
Post has only agreed to ONE union proposal which is the deletion
of Appendix “N”!
Hopefully, next Monday and Tuesday will see the employer agreeing
to some Union proposals but the way things are developing, your
Bargaining Team is currently disappointed with the employer’s
answers to date.
Finally, a National Mobilization Conference will be held this weekend
in Ottawa. Members from Locals across the country will be meeting
in Ottawa to discuss mobilization and to develop a plan of activities
for the next few weeks. Your Negotiating Team and the National Executive
will be joining the Local Mobilization Coordinators in the development
of these activities.
In Solidarity,
