Concilation session to begin October 25
The 2 week conciliation session between PSAC-UPCE and the Canada
Post Corporation, which had been scheduled to start October 18,
will not begin until October 25 at the decision of the PSAC. The
PSAC has proposed to the conciliation officer that we still do two
weeks of conciliation, starting October 25 and ending November 5.
The PSAC-UPCE bargaining team is committed to making positive progress
in negotiations, with the assistance of the conciliation officer.

Following the appointment of Jennifer Webster as Conciliation Officer

PSAC is asking for Conciliation
After careful consideration, and due to the lack of progress
after eighteen (18) days of negotiations so far with Canada Post,
the PSAC wrote to the Minister of Labour earlier today to have
a Conciliation Officer appointed to these negotiations. Your Bargaining
Team is confident that a Conciliation Officer will assist the
parties to move this process along.

This update is short as, for the second week in a row, there
is very little progress to report. Your Bargaining Team was expecting
answers from the Corporation on several of your proposals and
had hoped for positive results. However, the answers from the
employer fell well short of the mark. Needless to say, no articles
were signed off in the last couple of days. Negotiations are scheduled
to resume on September 8, 2004.
