Our goals
Overall goal
The number one goal of the Defending Quality Public Services campaign is to help build the kind of society we all want: just, inclusive, safe, secure, prosperous and sustainable. To reach this goal, we need quality public services. Without them, we can’t address social and economic inequalities, or build strong communities.
Defending quality public services means working in coalition with other unions and progressive organizations to stop privatization, deregulation and cutbacks. Left unchallenged, these threats will seriously erode our quality of life. But we can’t stop at protecting what we already have—to make our goal a reality, we also need to demand more and better public services.
Specific campaign goals
We can all make a difference in defending quality public services. You can get behind the campaign by supporting these goals:
- To promote—to the general public and to other PSAC members—the jobs we do and the services we provide.
- To actively engage other PSAC members in campaign actions.
- To work with coalitions to defend quality public services of all kinds, protect our job security and fight privatization in all its forms.
- To lobby the government, and work to elect politicians who support quality public services.
