Don't call Canada Post today: Winnipeg , Fredericton and Ottawa call centres are closed

Ottawa – PSAC members working at Canada Post are shutting down the call centres in Winnipeg , Fredericton and Ottawa today. Customer service will be disrupted during day five of rotating strikes by 300 members of the Public Service Alliance of Canada.

These strikes, which began on December 9, are part of a plan of action that is having an impact on all points of service at Canada Post.

So far, rotating strikes have targeted Canada Post operations in Vancouver , Scarborough , Halifax , St. John's , Edmonton and Antigonish.

In November, the 2,500 PSAC members at Canada Post voted 73% in favour of strike action. Negotiations with Canada Post started last July. The outstanding issues include health benefits, severance pay, various leaves, job security, staffing of positions and wages.

The PSAC members at Canada Post provide customer service and perform administrative, financial, technical and professional duties.
