Individuals can't influence governments when it comes to tax cuts.

As tempting as tax cut promises may appear, don't let political parties lure you. Blunt tax cuts benefit the rich and leave the rest of us with less money in our collective pot to pay for quality public services. They widen the gap between the rich and the rest of us and put the burden on individuals to pay directly for services that used to be paid by all. Stay on the look-out and speak up for your community. Challenge tax cutters and demand quality public services.

• Take part in your union's campaign to defend quality public services.

• Support community groups in their ongoing battle for public funding.

• Add your voice to adhoc committees to denounce cuts to programs and services.

• Talk to your neighbours and co-workers about the essential role of public services in achieving social peace and equality. 

• Send letters to the editor of your local newspapers exposing the impact of tax cuts in your community.

• Call your MP, provincial government representative, city councillors, and school board trustees. Challenge all political bodies attacking quality public services. Speak up against tax cuts. Demand a fairer tax system.

• Publicly protest all the hidden taxes that result from tax cuts.

• Participate in all-candidates meeting and expose the tax cutters. Remember: You get what you pay for!

• Remember that governments are the bodies we elect to administer our money according to the choices we make as a society. Support candidates that support your community.  Vote!
