National Board of Directors meets in February, 2008

Resolution Adopted by the PSAC NBoD
February 6, 2008

PSAC's Involvement in the Next Federal Election

WHEREAS the PSAC has a proud history – including a case before the Supreme Court of Canada – of defending the rights of our members to be involved in the political process; and

WHEREAS the membership strongly supports the involvement of their Union in defending quality public services and in getting involved in federal elections; and

WHEREAS since its election in December 2006, the Harper government has dismantled public services, accelerated deregulation, embraced privatization and tax cuts, and shown blatant disregard for the federal public sector and the frontline workers who deliver public services; and

WHEREAS the best way to defend quality public services is to elect a government that will support them:

BE IT RESOLVED THAT the NBoD endorse the 2008 federal election campaign developed and approved by the AEC, and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT all members of the PSAC National Board of Directors actively engage, individually and collectively, in the Union's upcoming federal election campaign, with a view to electing politicians who will support quality public services from coast to coast to coast; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT the NBoD make mobilization of the PSAC membership to “Think Public, and Vote for Quality Public Services” a key priority for this Union before and during the federal election campaign.
