This past week PSAC members from every local across Canada Post participated in our National Bargaining Conference in Ottawa. The Conference was the first ever to bring elected rank-and-file representatives from across the country together to discuss workplace issues and prepare for bargaining with Canada Post. Over the course of the three days a national bargaining team was elected with representatives from each region, many hours were spent discussing problems associated with working conditions at Canada Post, and key solutions to those problems were identified, solutions that we plan on tabling in the coming round of bargaining.
The conference also included the participation of PSAC Executive Vice President Gerry Halabecki, UPCE National President Richard Des Lauriers and CUPW Vice President Denis Lemelin. PSAC National President John Gordon spoke to the Conference about the critical importance of this round and re-affirmed the national union's commitment to supporting both our bargaining team and broader PSAC membership in our efforts to win a fair contract in the coming round with Canada Post.
Over the next several weeks ratification votes will be conducted in each local in support of our bargaining demands. We will be sure to update as things progress, as as dates, times and locations are determined. If you have any questions speak with your Shop Steward, a member of our bargaining team or your UPCE Regional Vice President.
