Health Canada Commissionaires have a first agreement
Commissionaires at Health Canada have ended their strike by voting to accept a tentative agreement. This will be the first collective agreement for this unit, the first group of Commissionaires in Ottawa to join PSAC.
The three-year agreement, which expires on May 31, 2009, provides for wage increases, including retroactive pay from April 1, 2007. The new pay grid recognizes the experience, training, seniority and respect that our members deserve. Significant gains include a no contracting out clause that protects bargaining unit work and language to protect members from sexual and personal harassment in the workplace. Members now have seniority rights for job postings, lay-off and protection from being transferred out of the bargaining unit.
