Negotiations with Canada Post

We're ready to negotiate!

Our union's strong and clear rejection of the employer's poorly designed Short Term Disability Plan has challenged Canada Post to revisit their mandate on this issue.

CPC's response to our rejection vote and to the PSAC's open letter to the CPC board of directors is to write an open letter of their own to PSAC members.

In their open letter, management suggests that our union is not prepared to negotiate STDP.  This is not the case.  It has always been our position that a properly defined and constructed STDP, that will benefit workers and the Corporation, can be negotiated.  In fact, for six months, it had been the employer who took on a “take-it-or-leave-it” attitude on this particular issue at the bargaining table.

Today, the PSAC has responded to the employer's open letter by advising the Corporation that our National President, John Gordon, is prepared to discuss a framework for negotiating STDP. This discussion is taking place Friday afternoon.

Your message in voting “No” was clear: Fairness in the workplace means Canada Post has to seriously negotiate workplace terms that would be of benefit to more than just the Corporation.

Now Canada Post must hear and understand that message.

Your solidarity continues to push the Corporation to do the right thing. Keep it up!
