Statement of Support – Capsizing of the Sealing Boat Acadien II
Most of you are aware of the recent tragedy that unfolded in the waters of the Gulf of St. Lawrence off the Iles de la Madeleine.
I am sure you join with me in sending heart felt condolences to all who have lost loved ones.
We also support our brothers and sisters from UCTE-PSAC Local 80809 who serve on the Canadian Coast Guard icebreaker Sir William Alexander who were involved in this tragedy. We recognize the courage, dedication and professionalism that is the mark of our members who work for the Canadian Coast Guard, often in the very worst of conditions.
Now is the time to ask for calm and patience while investigations run their course.
