National Gallery of Canada and the collective bargaining process
Members of PSAC Local 70397 at the National Gallery of Canada held a general meeting on Wednesday September 30, in the Sketches room at the Gallery.
Members of PSAC Local 70397 learn during their lunch hour about the grievances against the lay-offs and how to play an active role in the collective bargaining process towards their next collective agreement.
Maria Fitzpatrick, REVP, explains the collective bargaining process and how the priorities are established by the members during a consultation process which precedes formal meetings with the employer. She noted that the federal government continues to establish its priorities as if the workers did not exist.
Daniel Poulin, on the right, president of the PSAC Local currently on strike against the Museum of Civilization and the War Museum offers support to the workers at the NGC and calls for solidarity among workers of cultural institutions.
