Striking Canadian War Museum employees to organize Remembrance Day activities

Due to the labour dispute, striking War Museum employees will be presenting their usual activities on Remembrance Day outside the museum instead of inside. Out of respect for the importance and significance of Remembrance Day, employees on the picket line will be:

  • offering a family-friendly poppy wreath craft
  • sharing their knowledge, passion and expertise
  • helping visitors learn more about researching a family member's military history and the care and conservation of family military treasures.

Veterans will also be in attendance to answer questions and share their experiences.

Where:
The bus turnaround in front of the War Museum, 1 Vimy Place, Ottawa

When:
November 11, 2009, 9:30 am to 5 pm

Why:
War Museum staff on the picket line have chosen to provide the services that they would normally provide inside the museum, as a way to show their respect and to thank visitors for the support they have provided during the past seven weeks of the strike.
