Privatization and dismissal
The employees react

Ottawa – Employees of the National Gallery of Canada will be holding a strategy meeting to respond to the announcement of the privatization of the Gallery boutique and the layoff of nine employees.

Earlier today, management of the Gallery stated it intended to turn the Gallery boutique over to a private company, in spite of the fact that particular business has been earning substantial profits for years.

The Public Service Alliance of Canada, the union representing these workers, is looking into legal action to ensure that the rights of its members are respected.
