PSAC/GNWT Equal Pay Settlement- Additional Payments
Those who received payments under the terms of the 2002 settlement are potentially eligible for an additional payment.
The settlement agreement anticipated unclaimed funds remaining in the event otherwise eligible employees did not claim their equal pay entitlement by the December 31, 2004 deadline. This was in fact the case.
As a result, those who received an equal pay settlement cheque will share the remaining money provided they contact the GNWT by November 30th, 2009 and provided the amount of money due them is at least twenty dollars. Individual payments will be calculated on the same basis as the initial payments and prorated to the amount of money remaining and the pool of eligible individuals.
To establish eligibility for and to receive an additional payment, individuals must contact the Equal Pay Office of the GNWT no later than 5:00 pm MST on November 30th, 2009 and provide their current mailing address.
The GNWT will be writing in August 2009 to eligible employees at their last known address asking them to confirm their mailing address to establish eligibility for a second payment. Even if you receive a letter, you must respond and confirm your address with the GNWT. Eligible individuals may not receive a letter because they have moved since 2004-5 regardless, the onus is on the eligible individual to contact the GNWT to establish eligibility for a second payment.
