SSO Field Interviewer Bargaining Team spends three days in bargaining with Stats Canada

On Tuesday June 26th, Wednesday June 27th, and Thursday June 28th our Bargaining Team for the SSO Field Interviewer (FI) bargaining unit met with Stats Can representatives in Ottawa to continue negotiations for a new collective agreement.

Over the course of the three days the parties focused primarily on our team's proposals concerning new rights for employees in the context of work assignment, including the recognition of employee seniority.  As was the case when we met in May, we reiterated that new rights and protections for employees in the context of work assignment are critical for us in this round of negotiations.

We also spent time discussing issues associated with Assigned Work Weeks (AWW) and pension accrual.  We have made proposals that would ensure that employees would have recourse under our collective agreement in the event that there are discrepancies between employees' Assigned Work Week and their actual hours worked.

Return to the Bargaining Table Next Month

We are scheduled to resume negotiations in Ottawa the 17th and 18th of July.  In addition to continuing discussions on other items, we are planning on tabling our wage demands in our next session.  We'll be sure to update as things progress.  If you have any questions contact a member of our bargaining team or your local union representative, and refer to our opening proposals as well as the employer's proposals.
