FI bargaining team tables wage proposal

Union proposal would bring wages in line with other Stats Can workers

From July 17-18, the Field Interviewer bargaining team met with Stats Can in an effort to bring the parties closer to a new contract.

Wage proposals

As federal government workers, we deserve to earn the same wages as other unionized federal workers doing equivalent work. At the outset, the team tabled the following wage proposals:

  • Seeing all Field Interviewer employees move from current wage rates to the wage rates of Treasury Board workers doing equivalent work (CR-3 rate for Interviewers and CR-5 rate for Senior Interviewers).
  • Ensure that annual increases meet current inflationary trends. We have also proposed that the $15.00 that we receive bi-weekly be included in our contract and paid to all employees whether working or on leave. We propose that our our contract clearly state that the $15.00 is non-taxable.

Work assignment

Other than wages, we focused primarily on our team’s proposals concerning new rights for employees in the context of work assignment, including the recognition of employee seniority. As was the case when we met in May and in June, we reiterated that this is critical in this round of negotiations.

Questions

We have dates scheduled for the fall and will be sure to provide update as things progress. If you have any questions, follow up with your shop steward or a member of our bargaining team.
