PSAC-UPCE Bargaining Team exchanges proposals with Canada Post
Your team comprised of Yvan Bélanger, Hélène Arbique, Kristin MacLean, Brian Collins, François Paradis, Shawn Vincent and Erna Post, met with the corporation September 27 and 28.
Although bargaining has just begun, the bargaining team is very disappointed, but not surprised, by the bullying tone CPC has set in the position they have taken at the bargaining table.
They are proposing concessions in key provisions of our current Collective Agreement Provisions. Of note, their “vision” is a two-tier world of different provisions for different workers:
- Job Security two-tier job security – Article 28
- Two-tier Vacation leave Article 40
- Two-tier Post Retirement Benefits Article 37
- Two-tier Pension Plan – defined Contribution and defined benefits
The corporation stated that their goal is to achieve a “negotiated agreement without threat of a work disruption…. However, should there be an actual work disruption; the Corporation will be in the unfortunate position of not being able to conclude an agreement based on the proposals listed.”
The goal of your bargaining team on the other hand, is to advocate and represent you at the bargaining team and to get a fair deal for all PSAC/UPCE members.
The team is not interested in CPCs all-or-nothing approach. We have tabled a series of comprehensive proposals and expect CPC to bargain fairly by considering each of the union's proposals on their own merits.
Stay tuned. More information will follow as we receive more details from CPC.
