Additional Dates Set for CRA Bargaining
This week our Team received confirmation from CRA that they are prepared to meet and bargain the week of January 28th. Consequently we have 3 weeks scheduled for CRA bargaining: the weeks of November 26th, December 17th and January 28th. Our hope is that the CRA will come to our next bargaining session beginning on the 28th of November prepared to negotiate and to agree to new rights and protections for PSAC/UTE members at CRA, including protections for our jobs, our work and new rights including recognition of our years of service with the government. For a copy of our proposals, those of CRA, and for previous updates, go to www.psac.com or www.ute-sei.org. We will be sure to update as things progress.
In addition, PSAC-UTE is very disappointed that one of the changes in the Harper government's latest omnibus legislation would compromise the independence of the Canada Revenue Agency. The change, in Division 24 of Part four would make CRA get Treasury Board approval for its negotiating mandate as well as requiring the employer to consult Treasury Board on other issues. For more information, see the bulletin on the website.
